PTC is host for the Rotary Young Chef 2013 Competition

The competition begins and PTC selects their heat winners

Talented Food Technology students at our school have several recent successes including reaching regional finals of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year in successive years and their year 11 students gaining an additional qualification in Food Hygiene alongside their GCSE Food Technology.

The Rotary Club, Dudley were delighted when a Pedmore student, Matthew Whitehouse reaching the wider region final in Telford two years ago. Stourbridge Rotary have been impressed with our commitment to the competition they agreed that Pedmore host the regional heat this year in our Food Technology kitchen.  Schools across the borough compete at Pedmore on 4th December in a cooking challenge for aspiring young chefs to create and present a healthy two course meal for two on a fixed budget of £10, completed in two hours.

Mrs Condlyffe, Food Technology teacher at Pedmore said, “We were absolutely delighted to host the regional finals at our school this year.  The Rotary Young Chef competition is an important event on the school’s calendar and every year we have many young aspiring chefs compete here.  The standard of cooking is very high and our students from years 7-11 never fail to produce some outstanding well thought through menus and delicious dishes.  Our school heat was won by Emily Sharkey in year 9 and Adam King in year 10 and they were so excited about going onto the next stage”.
