Year 8 Students Win Aston University Languages Competition
Students achieve first prize and highly commended award from over 700 entries
Year 8 student Layla Ali has achieved fantastic success in winning the Regional European Day of Languages 2014 poster competition. The competition, organised by Routes into Languages and Aston University, required students to choose any country and create a poster reflecting both the culture and the language of their chosen country. Layla chose the United Arab Emirates and created a stunning poster in English and Arabic which amazed the judges. Over 700 entries were received from KS3 students in the West Midlands, and Layla was chosen as the overall winner in year 8.
Simran Mahmood, also Year 8, was chosen as one of 5 highly commended entries. A representative from Aston University came into school to present Layla and Simran with their awards. Congratulations to both students on these superb achievements.
