We Won The World Sports Team Competition for our TSET Olympics 2012!

The TSET Spectacular Sporting Event to mark Olympics 2012 wins offical recognition from the World Sports Team

For the last two years, Pedmore has co-ordinated the Trust schools and colleges in organising and holding a very successful sporting event, the “TSET Olympics”, in the build up to London 2012.  Originally held at trust schools over a half day, the event has grown in size every year.  An Olympic 2012 hopeful Alexandra Hooper (swimmer) came to our first event in 2010 and awarded our winning teams and individuals for our swimming events.

Last year, over 600 pupils from Trust schools were involved in an all day event at Himley Hall which proved to be the ideal venue for hosting many varied non-traditional sporting activities.  Sports ranged from volleyball to tag rugby, mountain biking, softball, golf, tennis, biathlon and many more.  Click here to see photos of the day.

With the London 2012 Olympics now upon us, we want the event this year to be truly spectacular, celebrating UK Olympics with our pupils and community.  Over 1000 pupils will be involved in a 2 day event this year.

Day One, 19th June Himley Hall - with a similar range of activities as last year avaiable for pupils to compete against other schools

Day Two, 21st June Dell Stadium, Brierley Hill - this additional day will be focussed on pupils competing in more traditional track and field events

Awards and Presentation Evening 2nd July  - Winners and their guests from all schools will be invited to a special celebration evening

The atmosphere last year was fantastic and the Mayor’s address and his awarding of the medals to the pupils really added that special touch to such a memorable day.  This year, with the Olympics upon us, we want the TSET Olympics to be even bigger and more spectacular event.

We were delighted to be recognised by the World Sports Team last month for our achievements so far and our plans for a bigger and better TSET Olympics this year.  We were announced  winners in their national competition.

This is a great opportunity to mark this historic event across Stourbridge schools and we aim to make it a real success.  Look out for further information in school over the coming weeks and get yourself ready to join in the fun - there's something for everyone!
