Getting Hands-On and a Taste of Motor Vehicle Studies at Stourbridge College
Year 10's spend a morning learning key skills in motor vehicle care
6 Year 10’s were invited to a Motor vehicle taster morning with Mrs Turner on Wednesday 15th June at Stourbridge College. After a safety brief, our students learnt how to use hydralic car jacks, change wheels and even put replacement tyres on hubs using machinery and tools in a vehicle workshop at the college. Mrs Turner said, “This two hour taster was a great hands-on opportunity for our students to experience the typical kinds of tasks and learning that a Motor Vehicle course would include. Everyone really enjoyed the morning with all commenting in their feedback that they would like to do this again, so this has been a real success.
This is the first taster in Motor Vehicle studies that our Year 10’s have experienced but now we intend to offer another opportunity for more students to experience this session at the college. Thanks go to Gemma Hawkins at Stourbridge College for organising this opportunity and to Phil and Kevin in the workshop for their supervision and expertise that really helped our students gain so much out of this bite-size session”.
