Year 7's immersed in history and wildlife at Dudley Castle
Students find out all about castles and animals at Dudley Castle and Zoo. Read the full story
Our Year 7's were given the opportunity to visit Dudley Castle and Zoo recently.
They spent a sunny day at the castle and zoo and were exposed to a wide variety of learning opportunities.
This included learning to milk a cow (even though it was a model cow!) and getting up close to the varied wildlife in the zoological gardens.
The day also included a "Horrible History" session where they discovered how life was when the castle was used as a residence.
The session was delivered by a costumed guide, taking place in the Undercroft of the 11th century Dudley Castle at the heart of the zoological gardens. Mrs Condlyffe, trip organiser said, " This Year 7 trip is always a great success - a super day. The event builds towards our annual Year 7 Medieval Banquet held in a decorated PTC hall were students have a truly immersive learning experience, dressed up in medieval customs and sampling typical food and entertainment of the times".
