Budding Chefs compete in the Rotary Chef Competiton
PTC chefs deliver fabulous dishes again this year
Talented Food Technology and Catering students at our school have several recent successes including reaching the regional finals of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year in successive years. We so impressed the judges, we have been accepted to host this year’s regional heat too in December. However, the first stage of the competition took part on November 20th when 13 eager cooks from years 7-11 got busy in our kitchen! The cooking challenge for our aspiring young chefs is to create and present a healthy two course meal for two on a fixed budget of £10, completed in just two hours.
After much sampling and discussion, the following winners were announced;
Year 7/8/9 winner - Thomas Hindmarsh
Year 10/11 winner - Erin Khan
Mrs Condlyffe, Food Technology teacher said, “We were delighted to see so many PTC students from all years wanting to have a go at this competition. The Rotary Young Chef is an important event on the school’s calendar and every year we have many young aspiring chefs compete here. The standard of cooking is very high and our students from Years 7-11 never fail to produce some outstanding well thought through menus and delicious dishes. Well done to everyone of our competitors, you all did really well at this competition and it was tough as the standards were so high".
