Pedmore Girls win First Prize in Property and Construction Competition!

Girls beat off tough competition from 10 other schools and sixth forms

We are delighted to announce that 5 Year 9 female students won a regional competition hosted at the Black Country Living Museum today!

The students designed an alternative entrance to be used primarily by schools into the centre and fought off tough competition in presentations from 10 other secondary and sixth form schools to win the prestigious first prize, a glass trophy to bring back to PTC.   Leading female property and construction experts from the University of Wolverhampton’s Property and Construction Facility, Jaguar Land Rover and Wolverhampton Homes were inspirational speakers at the event and on hand to give advice to competitors.  The judge panel commented that Pedmore had the edge over the other teams in terms of their design considerations which not only answered the elements of the brief but went over and above it, the match funding and additional income potential as a bookable venue and the professionalism and maturity that the girls demonstrated in their presentation technique.  A University of Wolverhampton lecturer commented that the standard of the girl’s presentation was on a par with their 18 year old undergraduates, if not better!

Mrs Hunter and Mrs Turner accompanied the group and were very proud of the girl’s achievement and their professionalism they throughout the day and final presentation.  The students who achieved were:-

Charlotte Baker

Adele Dudley

Tracy Le

Lauren Newton

Georgina Pardoe

Ideas from their design will be included in the future build.  You are already changing the shape of our world and putting young women firmly into the property and construction sector – well done girls!
