The Stourbridge Educational Trust (TSET) was established ‘to advance the education of the pupils and local community’. This is achieved through planning a series of joint learning activities and events throughout the year where pupils and students from each of the institutions can work together.
Current members of TSET
Pedmore Technology College and Community School
Thorns Community College
Redhill School and Specialist Language College
Ridgewood High School
King Edward VI College
By working together the Trust enables the schools and colleges to offer a wider range of learning activities to our young people, as well as developing stronger community cohesion.
Examples of activities from last year included:
The Night of Champions Award Evening – a bi-annual event where students from all TSET schools are nominated for a wide variety of awards by their peers
Oxford University tasters and residential – Gifted and Talented students from Trust schools get a taste of Oxford University life, attending special lectures, meeting staff and students and using the facilities
The TSET Olympics – a bi-annual TSET schools sporting event held at Himley Hall
The Trust also delivers highly effective continuing professional development for teachers and other staff. The Aspiring Middle Leaders course has run for many years and has had a significant impact across Stourbridge. The creation of The Stourbridge Teaching School Alliance through the Trust has enabled us to develop this provision further through the NPQH, NPQSL and NPQML courses which we run in association with Edge Hill University.
