Pedmore currently having a lockdown drill

As part of our standard fire drill, evacuation, lockdown and safety procedures we are currently staging a mock lockdown of the college site. This is a test and ensures that staff and students are familiar with the procedure and confident in the process. We will update this webpage as soon as the test procedure is complete.

Parents

This area of the site is designed for parents use but all our visitors have access to the information. Here you will find useful information if your child is at Pedmore Technology College or you are considering your child starting at our school.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Inhalers in school

Because of some recent changes all children with asthma now need to have a second blue reliever inhaler kept at school. This is to be a spare inhaler that can be used if a child’s usual blue inhaler at school is not working properly, has run out or been misplaced. Children will still have their own blue inhaler which is kept either in the classroom or they keep themselves.

If your child has asthma and you have not already done so please obtain a second blue inhaler on prescription from your GP which is in date and correctly labelled with your child’s name and send it in to school.

Non Authorisation of Term Time Holidays

All Schools have been advised not to authorise any term time holidays.  If a parent makes the decision to take their child/children on holiday in term time they are at risk of a fine.  The fine is £60 per parent per child if paid within 21 days or £120 per parent per child if paid between 21 and 28 days.  If the fine isn’t paid within 28 days both parents will have to attend court and could be forced to pay a fine of up to £2000.00.

Therefore a family of 2 adults and 2 children could be fined £240 or £480 depending upon how quickly the fine is paid.
