Pedmore currently having a lockdown drill

As part of our standard fire drill, evacuation, lockdown and safety procedures we are currently staging a mock lockdown of the college site. This is a test and ensures that staff and students are familiar with the procedure and confident in the process. We will update this webpage as soon as the test procedure is complete.

Pedmore Jam - Another Computing Success for PTC

PTC host another free Computing Skills event for our community

Our Pedmore Jam was another Computing success for PTC this last weekend.  On Friday, 26th June pupils from Ham Dingle Primary School joined us to take part in a wide range of workshops from learning about LAN's, WAN's and networking, technology innovations and how to code.  PTC's 7:2 also joined in the morning's workshops.

On Saturday we opened our doors to the general public to host a free event focussed around the Raspberry Pi computer and had a wide range of visitors from enthusiasts (who have developed gadgets and applications using the pocket size computer) to families and individuals interested to learn all about them and other computing skills such as Minecraft etc.  Ages ranged from 7 to 70+ and everyone had informative, fun and hand-on experience.

The event is the second of its kind for PTC.  In January this year, we hosted a two day computing festival “Jam Packed” which attracted visitors and technology experts from far and wide.  Go to our Spring 2015 newsletter for more details about this.

Mr Hanif, organiser of the event and teacher of Computer Science at Pedmore said, "It's been another good community event and our participants ranged from 7 to 70+ with many bringing their kit, skills and expertise to inspire and inform all our participants.  These type of events help our community to begin to understand Computing technology development/innovation and it's possible applications today".
